1. About Eden
Eden – Bible Stories for Families ("Eden," "we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application published by Eden Bible Stories. Eden offers illustrated, narrated Bible stories, daily devotionals, family prayer content, Bible trivia games, and a premium subscription for unlimited access. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our app.
Our app is designed for children and families. We take the privacy of young users very seriously and are committed to compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy laws.
2. Information We Collect
a) Information stored only on your device (never sent to our servers):
- Child Profile: The name and age you enter for a profile are stored only on your device using local device storage. This information is never transmitted to us.
- Profile Photo: If you choose to set a profile picture, the photo is selected from your device's photo library and stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone.
- Reading Progress & Favorites: Completed stories, favorite stories, earned badges, and quiz scores are stored locally on your device.
- App Settings: Theme preferences, notification preferences, parental control settings, and screen time limits are stored on your device.
b) Anonymous Cloud Backup Data (stored on our servers):
- Anonymous Device Token: When you use Cloud Backup, we generate a random anonymous identifier (UUID) for your device. This token contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify you. It is stored on our servers solely to retrieve your backup.
- Backup Payload: Your progress data (story completions, favorites, badges) is stored on our servers encrypted under your anonymous token. This data does not include your name, email, or any personal information.
c) Contact Form Messages:
- The in-app Contact form is located inside the Parent Hub, which requires completing a Parent Gate before access. This ensures the contact form is only reachable by adults (parents or guardians). When a parent contacts us, we collect their name, email address, and message, used solely to respond to the inquiry. We never solicit or collect contact information from children.
d) Push Notification Token:
- If you grant permission for notifications, your device's push notification token is stored on your device and used by your device's operating system (Apple APNs or Google FCM) to deliver notifications. We do not store push tokens on our servers.
e) Information We Do NOT Collect:
- We do not collect your full name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifiable information unless you voluntarily contact us.
- We do not collect location data, microphone data, or contacts.
- We do not collect or transmit photos. If you set a profile picture, it is selected from your device's photo library and stored only on your device — never sent to our servers.
- We do not use cookies, analytics SDKs, or advertising identifiers.
- We do not track your behavior across other apps or websites.
3. How We Use Information
- Cloud Backup: Your anonymous backup data is used solely to restore your progress when you reinstall the app or switch devices.
- Contact Responses: Your name and email (when provided via the contact form) are used only to respond to your message or support request.
- Notifications: If enabled, we schedule local notifications on your device for daily devotionals and prayer reminders. These are processed entirely on-device and do not require us to store your device token.
- We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond delivering the app's core features.
4. Subscription & Payments In-App Purchase
Eden offers a Premium subscription that unlocks unlimited access to all 100+ stories and features. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use RevenueCat as our subscription management platform.
- We never receive, store, or process your credit card, debit card, or bank account details.
- RevenueCat receives an anonymized subscriber ID from Apple or Google, along with basic device metadata (app version, OS version, country) to verify and manage your subscription status. RevenueCat does not receive your personal identity. Full details at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Your subscription status is stored on your device to determine feature access.
- Subscriptions can be managed or cancelled at any time through your Apple or Google account settings.
5. AI-Generated Content
Eden uses artificial intelligence to generate story illustrations, narration audio, and supplemental content. This is production-side content creation and does not involve processing any user data:
- Story illustrations are AI-generated images based on Bible story scripts (no user input is processed).
- Story narration audio is generated using ElevenLabs text-to-speech technology based on our story scripts. No user voice data is captured or processed.
- AI-generated content is pre-generated by us and delivered to you as part of the app experience. Your use of the app does not send any personal data to AI services.
6. Third-Party Services
Eden uses a limited number of third-party services, all of which are used for core app functionality:
- RevenueCat – Subscription management. See their privacy policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store – In-app purchases and app distribution. Governed by Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies.
- ElevenLabs – Used by us to pre-generate narration audio for stories. No user data is sent to ElevenLabs during app usage.
- OpenAI – Used by us to generate story images and supplemental content. No user data is sent to OpenAI during app usage.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, social login services, or data brokers.
7. App Store & Google Play Privacy Labels
Apple and Google require us to declare specific data types collected by our app. Eden declares 2 data types. Here is a plain-language explanation of each and why it is collected:
- Device ID (used for App Functionality) — When you enable Cloud Backup, our app generates a random anonymous identifier on your device. This is not your phone's hardware ID — it is a randomly generated token created by Eden with no connection to your personal identity. It is stored on our servers solely so we can retrieve your saved progress (stories read, favorites, badges) if you reinstall the app or switch devices. Without it, cloud restore would not be possible.
- Purchase History (used for App Functionality) — When you subscribe to Eden Premium, your subscription status is verified through RevenueCat, our subscription management platform. RevenueCat receives an anonymized subscriber identifier from Apple or Google to confirm whether your purchase is active. This is used solely to unlock premium features for paying subscribers. We never receive, see, or store your payment card details, billing address, or any financial information.
Neither data type is used for advertising, analytics, tracking, or profiling of any kind.
8. No Third-Party Advertising
Eden contains no advertisements of any kind. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID) or ad networks. Your child's activity within the app is never used for commercial profiling.
9. COPPA Compliance Children's Privacy
Eden is designed for children and families and is committed to full compliance with COPPA:
- We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
- The child profile (name and age) entered in-app is stored only on the user's device and is never transmitted to us.
- We do not condition a child's participation in any activity on the disclosure of more personal information than is necessary.
- We do not share children's information with third parties for commercial purposes.
- The Contact form is located in the Parent Hub, which is protected by a Parent Gate. Only adults who pass the gate can access and submit the contact form — children cannot reach it.
- Premium subscriptions require completing a Parent Gate (a math challenge) before purchase, ensuring an adult is initiating the transaction. Final authorization is handled by Apple or Google.
- We display no advertisements of any kind to children.
10. Parental Controls
Eden includes built-in parental controls to help parents manage their child's experience:
- PIN Protection: Parents can set a PIN to lock parental settings from being changed by a child.
- Screen Time Limits: Parents can configure daily usage time limits within the app.
- Content Controls: Parents can manage which content categories are accessible.
We also recommend that parents use their device's built-in parental controls (Screen Time on iOS, Family Link on Android) to supplement in-app settings.
11. Notifications
Eden can send optional notifications for daily devotionals, prayer reminders, and new story alerts. Notifications are completely optional and require your explicit permission. You can enable or disable notifications at any time within the app's Notification Settings or your device's system settings. We do not store your device token on our servers.
12. Cloud Backup
The optional Cloud Backup feature allows you to back up and restore your reading progress. Here's how it works:
- A random UUID (anonymous identifier) is generated and stored on your device the first time you use this feature.
- Your progress data (story completions, favorites, badges) is associated with this UUID on our servers.
- No name, email, or personal information is stored on our servers as part of this feature.
- You can delete your cloud backup data at any time by contacting us at support@edenkidsbible.com or by using the Delete My Data option in the app.
13. Data Retention
- On-device data: Retained until you uninstall the app or use the Reset All Data option.
- Cloud backup data: Retained for as long as you use the app. Deleted upon request.
- Contact messages: Retained for 12 months to allow for follow-up, then permanently deleted. Contact form access is restricted to adults via the Parent Hub.
14. Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of any data associated with your use of Eden:
- Use the "Delete My Data" option in the app (Menu → Legal → Delete My Data) to submit a deletion request.
- Or email us directly at support@edenkidsbible.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request."
- We will process your request within 30 days.
15. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- On-device data is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, biometrics).
- Cloud backup data is stored on secure servers and accessed only via your unique anonymous token.
- We do not store payment information — all billing is managed by Apple and Google.
16. Social Media Links
Eden's app and website contain links to our social media pages on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter). These links open external apps or websites governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not link your in-app activity to any social media account.
17. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your data (see Section 14).
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate data.
- Opt-out: Opt out of any data processing (though this may limit certain features).

17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may notify you within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
